A Very Busy Renovation Week!

We have been incredibly busy behind the scenes during our renovation week, making the most of an empty nursery to refresh, reorganise and improve many of our indoor and outdoor spaces.

The nursery was stripped back, areas were filled and painted where needed, equipment was moved and reorganised, and much of the layout was reset. It was a busy week, but we are really pleased with how everything is coming together!

Lots of changes outdoors

Our Natural Garden now has a brand-new mud kitchen and sandpit, creating even more opportunities for messy, sensory and imaginative play.

The Outdoor Classroom has gained a new den, while the Physical Garden has had a thorough tidy-up and a whole new layer of bark. We have also relocated the basketball hoop and added new resources to the construction area.

Our Vegetable Garden now has two new growing beds, and we have added new gardening gloves and tools to the shed, ready for plenty of planting, growing and digging.

Changes inside the nursery

In Honeybees, we have added a new board for group times and a new puppet theatre, as well as having a big tidy and reorganising much of the existing equipment. We are still waiting for some of the new furniture and equipment to be delivered, so there are more exciting changes to come.

The Ocean Room has remained largely unchanged, as this area only recently underwent its own refresh.

In Butterflies, the carpet area now has a new den, doll’s house and mirrors, and we have made more toys and resources accessible at a lower level so that children can independently see, choose and explore what is available to them.

Ladybirds has also had a lovely refresh. We have created a new reading corner, replaced the bookcase, relocated the kitchen counter to make the space wider and rearranged the units to create a cosier and more inviting environment.

And then there was the Baby Garden…

Rather amusingly, the one area we didn’t manage to finish was the one that started the week as our number one priority!

We did make a start on the Baby Garden, including creating a new cosy den and removing some of the existing items in preparation for the changes we have planned. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas and we were eventually rained off!

So, the Baby Garden remains a work in progress. We will be waiting for the next sunny weekend to get back outside and complete the planned updates.

There has been a huge amount of work happening across the nursery, and we are delighted with the progress that has been made. Of course, our environments are never truly “finished” – they will continue to develop and change as we see how the children use, explore and respond to them.

We hope the children enjoy discovering the changes and that these refreshed spaces provide lots of opportunities for play, exploration, imagination and learning.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and see the nursery full of busy little people again!
