This week we celebrated World Book Day by inviting the children to dress up as their favourite characters and share their favourite stories with their friends. It was wonderful to see so many imaginative costumes and to hear the children talking confidently about the stories they love.
Some of the stories at the top of our reading list included The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Numberblocks, The Scarecrow’s Wedding, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Grumpy Monkey, The Monkey That Said Naughty Words, and The Little Mermaid. The children had so much fun bringing these stories and characters to life!
Celebrating World Book Day helps children develop a love of reading from an early age. Through stories, children build language and communication skills, grow their imagination, learn new vocabulary, and develop confidence when sharing their ideas with others. Storytelling also encourages creativity, listening skills, and a sense of connection as children explore stories together.
We would like to extend a warm thank you to all the children and their families for sharing their stories and supporting us in teaching the value and importance of reading, sharing, and self-expression.
