Entry without contact
Q-Bell is a virtual doorbell. It enables you to alert the Nursery Team that you are there, without having to stand outside the door. The Nursery Team can then let you know when it is your turn to enter the premises or approach the door.
Why introduce the Q-Bell system?
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, we were already required to have access control for site security. However, this security does not take into consideration points of contact, including when pulling or pushing the gates and door open.
Current UK Government COVID-19 secure guidelines have suggested the disabling of keypad entry systems to stop these frequent and unavoidable contact points. However, as you know this is not an option for our nursery because it would put the safety of our children at risk.
The solution? A completely contactless access control system.
What do I need to do?
It takes just a few simple steps to gain access to Q-Bell:
1. Open the email from our nursery inviting you to join Q-Bell.
2. Click on the blue button which asks you to ‘Accept invite’. If you do not already have the Q-Bell App, this will take you to the App Store where you can download it for free.
3. Once installed, please go back into the email, and click the ‘Accept invite’ button again to add the Childerwood doorbell to the App.
Please note: To use the App, you will need to allow location sharing at least while the App is in use.
When should I ring the bell?
The App is limited by range. So, we ask that you ring the bell once you have either parked or are within the school grounds. A member of the team will then meet you at the gate nearest to the bike shed.
Why can’t I wait within the nursery garden anymore?
With the increasing risks of the corona virus spreading, permitting parents entry into an area where our nursery children often play is now seen as a high-risk to the children, team and parents entering and leaving the nursery. For this reason, we think it would best that parent touch point contact is minimised and the risk of close contact between parents waiting to drop off or collect their children would be minimised by reducing entry to the nursery.
What if I cannot use the App?
Parents who do not or cannot use the App are required to call the nursery team from outside of the nursery grounds. The number to call is 01603 865 477.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but hope that you can appreciate the reasons for which we are imposing this process.
