Understanding the Key Person approach
Starting nursery can be both exciting and nerve-wracking for children and their families. In the early years, children are primarily focused on their parents and families, and the relationships they form during this time can have a lasting impact. To help ease this transition, each child is assigned a key person when they start nursery.
The key person becomes a familiar face for both you and your child in the nursery setting. The key person approach enables practitioners to establish a special bond with your child, fostering a positive relationship.
By forming strong attachments, practitioners can support your child’s wellbeing, helping them to feel happy, confident, and prepared to engage in learning activities with enthusiasm.
We ensure that every child has a buddy in their key family to help them feel safe and secure while at nursery. As your child spends more time at nursery, they will have the opportunity to develop new relationships and form attachments with other exceptional practitioners as well.
