Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment

Childerwood Nursery has been carefully designed, considering factors such as the physical layout, lighting, safety, colour, and decor. The environment is homely and offers children comfort, with designated areas for learning, rest and play.

The nursery has many functioning areas that are easy for children to navigate, offering children easy access to amenities such as snack stations, toilets and changing facilities. By considering these factors, we believe that we can more easily support the children’s development and well-being.

Below you can find out more about the physical locations, contexts, and cultures in which our children learn.

Key Person Approach

The key person approach is a way to ensure that all children and their families have a person within the setting that they have a close, nurturing relationship with. The key person helps a child to feel more secure when away from home and provides a reassuring point of contact for parents.

Teaching in the Moment

Teaching in the moment is a strategy where a topic is spontaneously planned by our practitioners, based upon an individual child’s interests.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards for promoting the learning, development and safety of children from birth to five years in Ofsted registered settings.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are three closely linked values that we refer to when we are discussing how we support different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations.

Parents as Partners

At Childerwood we value our parent partnerships as the insight gained helps children to create meaningful connections to their wider world and to foster a love of learning.
